Reece deftly handles a wide variety of commercial disputes—from subrogation and coverage litigation involving the London and domestic energy insurance markets to business disputes, trade secret matters and legal malpractice defense. Reece’s breadth of practice over the last 30-plus years provides him with a distinctive point of view with which to advise clients in federal and state courts, and arbitration tribunals. As opposing counsel once noted, “Reece is an exceptionally well-prepared lawyer with a command of the substantive legal and evidentiary issues. He’s a tireless advocate, who possesses the rare ability to aggressively promote his client’s interest while maintaining his professionalism and civility.”
Prior to joining Hall Maines Lugrin, Reece served with distinction as a Texas District Court judge for nearly nine years, presiding over more than 125 jury trials. Before serving on the bench, Reece worked on mergers, acquisitions and public securities offerings at a national law firm and a publicly traded power company. In addition, Reece taught Trial Advocacy at the University of Houston Law Center for over four years.
With a broad background of experience, Reece brings to the table an ability to see many different aspects of a case. His unique perspective allows him to quickly understand the issues—not just in the context of the courtroom but also in that of his client’s business. As a trial attorney in an energy boutique law firm, Reece frequently finds this viewpoint to be invaluable to the firm’s clients and that it often becomes the difference between winning and losing.
